
Five Lanes School near Devizes used the Core Values in Rugby as part of their teaching this term. Finishing with a tournament supported by Devizes RFC.
The teaching staff at Five Lanes Primary decided to use the Rugby World Cup as a theme of their learning this term.
In the planning they used the Core Values of Rugby to aid the lessons and activities.
The final day of term on a sunny afternoon the whole of Key Stage 2 took part in a Tag tournament supported by 4 coaches from Devizes RFC.
Over 50 children were split in to the 8 quarter final teams and in to two pools with the winners and runners up of the pools playing each other for a place in the World Cup Final.
The eventual winners were South Africa beating New Zealand by 5 tries to 4.
The real winners were the children as the enjoyment and participation by each and everyone of them was apparent. Between the pool and knockout stages the coaches discussed the values that the children had seen and how that made them feel.
Awards were presented for the best boy, girl and player of the day and the Winners and Runners up received medals.
However, the biggest award for the day went to the team who showed the best values throughout the day which went to Argentina.
